One of the best things i've found since moving to Texas-aside from Ben Sargent, The Salt Lick, and the bats under the bridge-is John Kelso. How many other columnists could say "liberal wieners" and still write an article satirizing Sarah Palin (rightly so). It's as though someone told the grumpy, sarcastic old man in the corner of the room and said, "look. We know that you're not happy. And we don't want you out on the street doing news. So how about we let you write a column instead?" Here's the link to the Palin story, which is funny in itself-even if you didn't watch the debate, all you have to do is watch the SNL skit and you might even hear one of her actual quotes.

- I'm from California, and moved to Texas in 2006. Texas is a little (lot) hotter than San Diego, but the summers haven't been that bad so far. I spend most of my time at school or at work, though i try to get out of cave a little :) I classify myself as an independent, though most people would consider me progressive. (and i am-on social issues. However, i believe in fiscal responsibility, which is traditionally conservative) I believe that everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness-no matter what their religious affiliation, race, gender, or sexual orientation. I don't really have any experience in politics-but it seems interesting. I am taking the class because I am interested in how politics in Texas works. (and because it is required :)) From the class I would like to get a firm and informed grasp on the political process in the Texas government.
